Considering the position of Vieste, right at the extreme eastern tip of the Gargano Promontory, the most comfortable way to reach Vieste is certainly the car.
For those who come from afar and do not feel like making long journeys by car, it may be convenient to opt for an air flight to the airports of Bari or Foggia and, therefore, to rent a car to reach Vieste following one of the routes indicated below. For the train journey, however, the best solution is to reach the Foggia station and then continue to Vieste either by using the bus or, also in this case, by taking a rental car.
For those who prefer the bus, local connections are available throughout the year from Foggia station to Vieste. Furthermore, especially during the summer and to the advantage of those who want to spend their holidays in Vieste, several long-distance routes are available which they connect Vieste with the main Italian cities and regions.
FROM THE NORTH: By car from the A-14 Bologna / Taranto motorway, exit at Poggio Imperial, continue along the Strada Veloce Del Gargano to reach Peschici (SS89). From Peschici you get to Vieste either with the coast road (P52) or with the internal road (SS89), the coast road has a landscape full of beaches and coves, as well as numerous tourist facilities.
FROM NAPLES: take the A-16 Napoli / Canosa di Puglia highway and exit at Candela. Continue with the state road (SS655) that leads to Foggia, then the state road (SS89) towards Manfredonia - Mattinata. At this point you can reach Vieste with the coastal road (B53) or with the internal road (SS89). The internal road presents a landscape full of trees while the coastal road runs alongside the sea. FROM SOUTH: take A-14 Taranto / Bologna, take the Cerignola Est exit, continue with the state road (SS159) towards Manfredonia, continue with the state road (SS89) towards Mattinata. At this point you can reach Vieste with the coastal road (B53) or with the internal road (SS89). The internal road presents a landscape full of trees while the coastal road runs alongside the sea.
To reach Vieste by train: for travelers from the north (Milan, Bologna), many trains stop at San Severo (FG) or Foggia. then by bus to Vieste. For travelers from (Rome, Florence) it is better to stop at the Foggia station, then by bus to Vieste. for timetables consult the State Railways on www.trenitalia.it.
